The top employers include the Rockwall Independent School District, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, Wal-Mart Superstore, Rockwall County government, and Texas Star Express. Rockwall is also known for its abundance of golf courses. There are over 20 different courses within and just outside Rockwall. Additionally, Lake Ray Hubbard offers plenty of outdoor recreation options including boating and jet skiing.
Dallas is very close to Rockwall County, and some of its residents are technically within the boundaries of Rockwall County. All in all, Dallas co-exists in four different counties in Texas. The estimated population of Dallas based on 2018 findings is nearly 1.35 million people. It makes Dallas the ninth most populous city in the United States, and third largest in Texas behind Houston and San Antonio.
Dallas is also considered the largest inland metropolitan area in the United States, including all of Rockwall County. In fact, the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is the fourth-largest such statistical area in the nation. Estimates from 2018 place the total number of people in the Metroplex at 7.85 million.
Dallas shares one of the largest airports in the world with Fort Worth. The Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is the fourth busiest in the world based on aircraft movements, and 15th busiest based on passenger traffic. American Airlines has a major depot at DFW. The Dallas Cowboys are also one of the most popular NFL franchises and play their home games at AT&T Stadium. Dallas is also home to the Mavericks of the NBA, Stars of the NHL, and FC Dallas of the MLS.
