The Bent County Courthouse was officially completed in 1887 and is located in the county seat of Las Animas. The Bent County Courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. Fort Lyon was built in 1867 and was once used as a fort for the United States Army. Fort Lyon is currently used as a rehabilitation facility for the Colorado homeless. Other historical locations in the county include the Prowers Bridge and the Las Animas Post Office.
